God is raising up leaders to lead His Church. Under our Launch Leaders Ministry, Harbour Fellowship Church is focusing our efforts to equip leaders in three ways; maximizing our own leadership, commissioning those from within and partnering with local, regional and global leaders.
Regionally our efforts have been to assist and encourage two churc h plants in our immediate area – Lightway Church in Hamilton pastored by Ian Havercroft and Church by the Canal in Thorold pastored by Allan Gallant. Both of these churches are operating well and growing. Our main support currently is financial and prayer.
Through International Teams Canada, we have partnered with PACE Ministries who operate facilities and various projects in and around Nyahururu, Kenya in East Africa. Since 2005, Harbour has supported this ministry and its Director, Wachira Ngamau. Since 2005 over Harbour has sent over 50 men, women and young people on both short-term and longer term mission trips. Through Launch Leaders we have been encouraging and helping to equip national leaders to advance God’s kingdom in both Kenya and through some of the local pastors, into Rwanda and the Congo.
Currently we have a five year plan to assist local pastors to construct and own their own family home which will allow them to fulfill their ministerial roles outside their local churches. To date we have completed one home and will finish the second by April of 2011. We are also assisting some l ocal pastors to upgrade their biblical knowledge and pastoral skills by enrolling them in the Pan African School of Theology in Kenya. We have also identified a number of young leaders in the Ministry at PACE. Harbour has matched them with key faith advocates/business mentors from Harbour who will encourage, pray and assist then in developing business models that will be used by the Kenyans to grow their organizations. Harbour is also assisting some of the local pastors from Kenya to establish and plant churche s in Rwanda; and grow, encourage and help educate local Rwandan pastors to look after these churches; and help lay the foundation for a Congo church plant.
